Our concept of gender justice is tied to the full equality and equity between women and men in all spheres of life, resulting in women jointly, and on an equal basis with men, defining and shaping the policies, structures and decisions that affect their lives and society as a whole. It is a critical element of Liberia’s postwar reconstruction process.
We access the implications of planned actions such as legislations, policy and programs at all levels that affect both men and women. This is our strategy for making women’s as well as men’s concerns and experiences an integral dimension of the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programs in all political, economic and societal spheres so that women and men benefit equally and inequality is not perpetuated. The Bloated numbers of sexual violence cases on the dockets of courts, poor and unkempt records system, corruption and bribery are endemic and continue to undermine the system, in the police, judiciary, and corrections. Everywhere in Liberia, there are incidences of gender-based violence, with sexual gender base violence at its peak following the outbreak of COVID-19 and the subsequent lookdown imposed in the country. To this end, Mwasnoh Tuan Foundation is initiating interventions to works with rape survivors and other victims of poor justice system.
